How My Tutoring Keeps Students Safe
My Tutoring uses AI to provide grade-appropriate homework help with multiple layers of safety designed for K-12 students.
1. AI Safety Guardrails
Our AI tutor is programmed to refuse inappropriate content including self-harm, weapons, explicit material, hate speech, and illegal activities. It never requests personal information like names, addresses, phone numbers, or email addresses.
2. Verified Video Search
We use YouTube SafeSearch in strict mode, show only embeddable videos, and restrict results to a curated allowlist of trusted educational channels. Every video must come from one of our pre-approved channels.
3. Honest Approach
We do not claim to "watch" or "analyze" video content. We verify relevance using video titles and descriptions, combined with our channel allowlist. This is a transparent, honest approach to content safety.
4. Grade-Appropriate Responses
All AI responses are tailored to the student's grade level, using age-appropriate language, examples, and complexity. We adjust our teaching style for K-2, 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12 grade bands.

Note for School Board: This is a demonstration MVP designed to showcase safe AI tutoring for K-12 students. All safety measures are implemented and functional. YouTube video search requires an API key (optional). The system functions fully for AI tutoring and illustrations even without video search enabled.
